He is sitting upright again the story of Kurmanbek

May 31, 2025

Sometimes all parents need is to see their child sit. Not lie down. Not slide off the pillows. Simply sit—on his own, upright.

For most people that sounds ordinary. Yet when your child loses control of his body after an accident, ordinary things turn into miracles.

Kurmanbek’s family came to Türkiye from Kyrgyzstan. After a car crash their son sustained a spinal-cord injury. He could no longer walk, but that was not the worst part.

He could not sit straight. He literally slid out of the wheelchair, unable to hold his torso, unable to support himself. His spine kept deforming, and with it the work of his internal organs.

Doctors at home were at a loss. The family searched for a solution—and found it in Türkiye.

In one of our partner clinics Professor …, a specialist in complex spinal deformities, took Kurmanbek under his care. The operation was a success.

And now he sits.

Upright.

Without resting on his hands.

Without props or straps.

Recovery is slow. This is not a fairy tale; it is rehabilitation. But each day he moves forward. Each day the parents see what they feared they would never see again—confidence in their son’s eyes.

They thank the doctors, the nurses, the coordinators. They are grateful for the meals, the medication, the kindness and attention. Above all, they are grateful that here Kurmanbek is not merely a patient but a person who is seen and heard.

We, Alisa Health Group, stood beside them in the hardest moments—and we will stay until the journey to recovery is complete.

Because for us this is not just work. It is a story we are rewriting together: from curvature to posture, from pain to hope.
